Datuk Marina Chin was a former national athlete who represented Malaysia from 1971 to 1981 in the sprints and hurdles at the SEA Games, Asian Track and Field and Commonwealth Games. She was awarded the National Sportswoman Award for 1976 and 1977. Upon retiring from competitive sports, she took up coaching track and field in her spare time . She was also very involved in many sports development projects implemented jointly by the National Sports Council,National Sports Institute and the Ministry of Education. Datuk Marina was also the principal of the Bukit Jalil Sports School from 2007 to2014 . She retired from the post of Director,Sports Division Monistry of Education in2015. She is still actively contributing to sports in Malaysia in various organizations, imparting knowledge and assissting wherever needed In 2017, she was appointed as chairman of a task force to look into Abuse and Harrassment in Malaysian Sports which was completed successfully and a report document with suggesstions was handed over to the then Minister of Sports, Malaysia.
