PHILIP LEW CHUN FOONG

Philip Lew, who currently pursuing a Doctorate in Sport Psychology in the University of Southern Queensland, works as the Sport Psychology Officer in the National Sports Institute of Malaysia. He is also ISN Sports Science Team Leader for the national sailing team’s Road to Tokyo Olympics Program and an Exco Member of the Malaysian Sport Psychology Association (MASPA). Over the past 7 years he has provided psychological support (training and on-site) to numerous sports teams, international and professional performers of Malaysia through developing tailored interventions to assist athletes and coaches in preparation for competition and to manage the psychological demands of the sport. His experience working with the female high performance athletes and coaches, including the national netball, field hockey, football, futsal, basketball and rugby sevens teams. He was also tasked to provide on-site psychology support to the Malaysian national athletes during major sporting championships, e.g. the 2015, 2017 SEA Games and the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan. Philip is an instructor for the sport science courses of the National Coaching Academy (AKK) and frequently being invited to deliver lectures on sport psychology topics (e.g. mental preparation, leadership and team dynamics) in conferences, universities, talent camps and coaching certification programmes, e.g. the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Professional Diploma Certificate Coaching Award.
