AZHAR YUSOF

Azhar Yusof is the Head of CoachSG, an academy within the Singapore Sport Institute that leads coaching education and development across all sports in Singapore. In his current role at Sport Singapore (SportSG), he oversees the Safe Sport Taskforce. Azhar has a diverse background; having been a former national athlete in rugby, an international referee and Performance Reviewer, and a coach of multiple sports. A teacher by training, he headed the Physical Education Department at the prestigious Raffles Institution before joining the National Institute of Education (NIE) / Nanyang Technological University (NTU) where he became a Senior Lecturer and Assistant Head (Teaching) at the Physical Education & Sport Science Academic Group. In his time at NIE/NTU, he was twice awarded the NIE Teaching Excellence Commendation Award and the prestigious Nanyang Education Award at both the School and College levels. In recognition of his teaching excellence, he was inducted as a fellow in NTU’s Teaching Excellence Academy. He continues his passion in education as an adjunct lecturer at NIE/NTU, the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and a Trainer with World Rugby. Azhar has written books, book chapters, co-publish research papers, and presented at numerous local and international conferences.
